Afrikaans (EAT) – Vlak 1

Hello and Welcome to Level 1 Afrikaans (EAT)!

We hope you enjoy learning and developing your Afrikaans language skills. This subject is at a foundational level and intended to help you build the language skills you need to succeed in speaking, reading, and writing Afrikaans as a second language.

Level 1 (Vlak 1) Afrikaans is divided into three parts:

• Part 1: Focuses on basic spelling (sight words) and vocabulary, and basic reading skills.
• Part 2: Focuses on building on the spelling, vocabulary, and reading, then introductory writing skills
• Part 3: Focuses on building further on vocabulary and higher-order reading and writing skills.

You will be required to complete each level sequentially.

For each level, the following assessments are required in order to complete Afrikaans (EAT) Vlak 1:

• Mid-Term Assessment
• End-Term Assessment
